WHEN & WHERE
February 22, 2003
Marina, California
THE VENUE
The wedding will take place in a little local park named Di Maggio. The park has a building made up of three rooms, one large and two smaller, plus a kitchen and restrooms. The large room will be used for the dining and reception, and is panelled in dark wood with a large stone fireplace. One of the smaller rooms will be where we set up the buffet area. The park has a very nice, large parking area that is well lit. The restrooms are a bit small but they have 2 stalls each. The park is surrounded by cypress trees and has paved paths that roll through mowed lawn areas. A BBQ pit (which we won't be using) and playground are also nearby.
If The Weather Is Nice: The ceremony will take place on the lawn outdoors. However, keep in mind that the weather may still be chilly, so jackets and sweaters would be nice to have even if it's sunny outside.
If The Weather Is Rainy: The ceremony will take place indoors with the alter in front of the fireplace, and the guests will most likely be seated at their dinner tables. We understand that this may be slightly inconvienient, but please bear with us. We're hoping for nice weather, so keep your fingers crossed!
THE SCHEDULE
Here's a tentitive schedule of the wedding day. If you are a member of the wedding party or will be coming early (or staying late) to help set-up, tear-down or clean afterwards, please check my journal entry here for a more complete listing of activities.
Saturday, Feb. 22nd
3pm- Doors open for guests.
3:30pm- Ceremony begins.
4pm (approx)- Ceremony completed. Bride and Groom meet with the photographer and have formal portraits done.
"Cocktail Hour" begins; beverages, hot appetizers are made available.
5pm- Tables will be excused one by one to go to the buffet room. Dinner is served!
6-8pm- The normal wedding reception stuff. Toasting and first-dance and cake cutting (but no garter/bouquet tossing). Dancing for all the guests, mingling, talking, hugging, crying.
8-10pm- If there’s interest, we’ll start with the serious dancing.
10pm- The party will start to wind down. Say goodbye to our guests (except for those who will be helping us to clean up).
11pm- Cleaning and packing things away.
Midnight- Doors get locked.

THEME, ATTIRE AND FORMALITY
Our wedding "theme" will be a Valentine Winter Wonderland. We'd like to have all of our guests feel comfortable but still participate in what we hope will be a romantic, dressy atmosphere. Wear what you would feel appropriate for an semi-formal evening wedding in the wintertime.
Possible suggestions include: seasonal or holiday clothing, rich fabrics, velvets and satins, or evening wear.
Men: you might consider military uniforms, suits or sportcoats and ties, or slacks and a nice sweater or shirt.
Ladies: Dresses, pantsuits or coordinating separates. Fancy accessories like gloves and shawls would be very welcome!
Be aware that the wedding will be in February, quite often the height of the rainy season. Cozy sweaters and warm woolly jackets would be nice to have on hand. Feel free to wear colors the match or coordinate with the wedding party- silver, grey, burgundy, pinks, reds, etc. Please keep in mind that these are just suggestions; a smile on your face and joy in your heart will be the most important things you can wear on our big day!

Monterey Navy Lodge*

831-372-6133
$65.00 per night, $130.00 total
*I found out about the Navel Lodge from our officiant, Rev. Duda and I thought it might be of use to some of our guests. The price is a little more than Motel 6 and the location is much farther away (20 minutes vs. 90 seconds) and since I haven't seen the rooms, I can't comment on the quality. They also have strict policies on who can stay and how far in advance you need to make reservations. It may not be useful, but I definitely wanted to make the option known.

GIFT REGISTRIES
Target
At Target we've registered mostly for towels, linens, housewares and power tools (for the Bride, of course!) I must admit that our current set of towels is on it's long-and-painful way out, and it would be nice to get new blankets because those have also seen better days in their hand-me-down existance.
Pier 1 Imports
Mostly defunct, but if you'd like to get an inkling of my decorating taste, visit your local Pier 1 Imports. Then promptly walk right back out again and go to Ross. Ross has a lot of the same type of stuff for a lot less money. Pier 1 also has a distinct lack of power tools.
GIFT CERTIFICATES
Costco
I think Costco may be our favorite store of all time. A gift certificate would be good for china, small appliances, linens, clothing, electronics, CDs and DVDs, luggage, jewelry, patio furnature, car care, power tools(!), lobster, cheesecake and much much more! I don't think I can say how much we love Costco.
Home Depot
For lovely, lovely things like gardening tools, houseplants, paint, tile, carpeting, power tools (are we noticing a trend here?), shovels, rakes and implements of destruction. Home Depot actually has a Bridal Registry, but it seems pretty confusing and not-very-user-friendly.
