Nievita Charmaine Hartness
&
John Cook Blackford
February 22, 2003
Since the wedding is now long over, these pages are getting a much needed overhaul and freshening up. I want to extend a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended and made our day everything we had hoped it could be. We love each and every one of you especially, and we're so blessed that you're in our lives.

THOUGHTS FROM FRIENDS
"My friends Nievita and John are being joined as one today in marriage. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there with them at the service (which is on the complete opposite coast from where I'm sitting now), but I want to wish them the best, and hope that they truly make one another happy. God bless you both, N & J. I love you both so much, and I'm extremely happy for you." - Will
"(Nievita's)* wedding was awesome! It was a small ceremony. Only a bit of family and some intimate friends. Outside, short but sweet and heartfelt and the religious person giving the oaths was a good speaker.
Nievita looked awesome and John looked respectable. (Sorry, John, didn't mean to call you names!) And, most cool of all, they played the imperial march for their wedding march. SWEET!
All in all, it's the picture of what a wedding should be." - Matt
"Nievita and John's wedding was wonderful, one of the best I've ever attended. Nice, small and intimate with good friends, good music, good wine and food. The officiant had a great ad-lib about the similarity of trying to light a candle in the wind and making a marriage work. A lovely day all around."
"Since I've mentioned it to Mom about three times and I'm still drooling over it, I might as well mention that at Nievita and John's wedding dinner, I would have been perfectly happy with just the antipasto spread, the red wine and that scrumptious, deee-lissss-eeeee-ous sourdough bread that had WHOLE CLOVES OF GARLIC baked right in. Ambrosia, pure and simple. Which is not to say that the angel hair pasta with chicken and lovely sun dried tomatoes and basil wasn't uber nummy too." - Jennifer
"To Nievita and John: May you always know the joy that you felt yesterday. A lovely wedding, for two absolutely wonderful people. Thank you for sharing it with me." - Nate
"Nievita's wedding was beautful. It was good to see everyone too." - Stasha
"So, wedding was lovely. Nievita and John worked so hard and everything was beautiful." - Jeni
"Nievita & John's wedding was yesterday. Managed to get a wee bit of stuff done in the morning before getting prettied up and on the road. Much cell-phone CB talk going on which caused us to initially pass up our exit. After a few circles and more phone calls, we got there in plenty of time. I had the pleasure of carnation pinning with the help of Jennifer and that was fun. Plus it allowed me to snag a white carnation (men) instead of a red one (women) as the white showed up much more nicely against my sparkly red blouse.
The ceremony itself was really nice although I think I will always prefer the one at my own wedding. Minister nicely covered during the unity candle lighting (made awkward by the spring breezes) which made up for his (to my mind unseemly) long dwelling on the possibility of marriage problems & divorce and his "personal challenge" to us to help the couple if such problems come up in their future. Their vows were very nice and the emotion and devotion of the bride & groom was beautiful and touching.
The reception was nice once we switched around the (thankfully, quite fluid) seating, with really yummy food and great company. I love my friends, and it was so nice to chat and visit with them on such a happy day. Things wound down a little earlier than expected as some of those that had to leave early triggered others to go. Nate & I stayed longer to help with the cleaning up and left for home just before 9:00. - Amy
